Built on a rich gold mining history, Main Street is packed full of Victorian buildings that ooze charm and character.
These buildings nowadays play host a vibrant variety of cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and nightlife! Add in an events calendar packed full of shows, activities and festivals from June’s “Bike Week” to Oktoberfest in fall, you’ll never be short of “off the bike” entertainment.
Incredible Weather
When it’s swelteringly hot at lower elevations, summer is refreshingly cool here, with bluebird skies and temperatures in the 70’s.
It’s also very predictable which makes for great adventure planning. Get out and ride in the glorious morning sunshine. There’s a chance of an afternoon storm, so head back to the condo to get a bite to eat or take a nap. Finish the day with dinner, drinks and a stroll down Main Street. Don’t forget to check out Breck in the fall. Crisp mornings, brilliant yellow leaves and the first dusting of snow on the peaks created a stunning backdrop for an amazing autumn adventure.

The Mountain Biking
Access hundreds of miles of trail from downtown Breckenridge
Trails for all ability levels from mellow riverside trails to all day epics, to cutting edge flow lines to bike parks. The Town of Breckenridge trail system is nothing short of phenomenal and it’s all accessible from your downtown lodging.
Get into the backcountry. The Town of Breckeridge Trail Map will take you through dense aspen and pine forest, through wildflower rich mountain meadows and up into Alpine tundra above tree line. Wherever you go the sights, sounds and smells are amazing!
Given the area’s rich gold mining history, it’s common to ride by shuttered mines, turn of the century miners cabins, along flumes and past long abandoned dredge boats. There are so many relics from days gone by it often feels like you’re riding in a living museum.
It’s no coincidence our trails are also home to world-renowned mountain bike races including the Breck Epic stage race, the Breck 100 and the Firecracker 50 which has it’s rolling start in the 4th July parade!

1. The Climbs
Summit County is THE place to be if you like to climb. Breckenridge is surrounded by famous mountain passes, most of them accessible right from downtown. summitbiking.org has a full list of route descriptions, maps and elevation profiles. Here are a few of our favorites:
Loveland Pass: A 50 mile round trip to the Continental Divide. Climb past Keystone and Arapahoe Basin ski resorts and up the switchbacks to 11,990 feet!Montezuma: Extend a ride to Keystone ski resort by heading 5 miles to the end of the road at Montezuma, a hardy mountain community of just 50 residents
Fremont Pass: A super scenic bike path climb along the river through 10 Mile Canyon leads past Copper Mountain ski resort
2. The Views
Are everywhere! Wherever you ride you’ll be treated to some of the finest scenery the Rocky Mountain region has to offer. The Lake Dillon loop is a real highlight. You’ll take in incredible views of Peak One high above the quaint town of Frisco, spin past the Dillon Marina & Yacht Club (North America’s highest) and enjoy a picturesque winding climb to Sapphire point to take in some incredible views over the lake.
Spectacular scenery was just one of the reasons Breckenridge was the only host city chosen for ALL 5 editions of the USA Pro Challenge
3. The Riding
50+ miles of paved recreational pathway span the breadth of Summit County. When you do head out on to the road, the lanes are wide with large shoulders, there’s minimal traffic and drivers are generally very courteous and cyclist aware which makes for a safe and stress-free riding experience.
